Illustrated by Greg Hildebrandt
The illustrator's name is bigger than the author's on this book. You can guess the reason.
This was a book from my childhood. I always loved flipping through the pictures. But I never liked the story.
Peter Cottontail spends the whole day asking each of his family members and each of his friends to come and play with him, but nobody will. So he spends a quiet day alone in the sun.
When he gets home he discovers that it's his birthday and there's a surprise party waiting for him.
His family has weird priorities. NOBODY WANTED TO HANG OUT WITH HIM ON HIS BIRTHDAY. Also, how did he not know that it was his birthday?
This book is infuriating. We flip through the pictures, but I refuse to read it properly. It's pretty heavy on text, anyway, so it's no good as a storybook for a kid under the age of two.
